NEWS YOU NEED TO KNOW Conference Call Notes 3.25.21

Pharmacist / Manager Conference Call

March 25, 2021 – 8:30 am

PLEASE SHARE THESE IMPORTANT NOTES WITH YOUR TEAM

PLUS ONE MOMENTS

HAHIRA – Annie:   We have a 10 year old patient with Down Syndrome, who has anxiety issues which causes hair loss. He soon recognized the taste of liquid medicine and refused to take it. Powder medication sprinkled on his food was soon refused also.  Annie spoke with the compound lab and they were able to create a sublingual tablet for the parents to try. We’ll soon know the results of that. It is good that Chancy Drugs has options through compounding that we can offer our patents.

ADEL – Henry:  Tina introduced Henry to Diana at Tift Regional.  Diana is working on a protocol to prevent re-admissions to the hospital due to medication mix ups.  A script was called in for a patient the day before he was admitted to the hospital.  It was in will-call when the patient was released from the hospital, so Henry call Diana to see if this medication should still be given to the patient.  It was a script for potassium, but while in the hospital they discovered that his potassium level was too high, so giving him his script could cause him to go back into the hospital. We are looking forward to working more closely with Diana in the future.

COVID VACCINES – The Georgia Governor has just changed the criteria for COVID vaccines to anyone over the age of 16.  We have a clinic today at the Assembly of God in Adel on Massee Post Road.

Starting next week we will have a COVID vaccine clinic every Tuesday in Valdosta.  Everyone should register on the website so they can select the time they want to come in.

Only one vaccine will be given on any Tuesday.  The vaccine given that day will be dependent on what we have available for the second dose.

We will continue to look at ways to take care of our community.

INDY – Li-NET will be the temporary processer for Indy. You can fill the full prescription; you are not limited by the number of days like we talked about yesterday.  We will be sending you a sheet that has an 800 number you can call if you need an override.  If you get a "no" the first time, call back later and ask again.

Many patients have received a phone call from Indy already and they will be calling in with questions.  The letter they will be receiving says that they can make a change (like an Open Enrollment) between 4/1/21 and 7/31/21.

Do not make any return (14 day report) to Indy.  Just hold them for now.

Chancy Drugs will be creating a text/ email/phone call to all our patients so they know that we will take care of them.

Our next conference call will be Thursday, April 1 at 8:30 am.
