WHAT WE'RE DONG
  • To help do our part to protect our community, we will begin a company-wide immunization campaign promoting flu shots, shingles vaccines, and pneumonia vaccines on October 1st.

WHY WE'RE DOING IT
  • This year, it's more important than ever for everyone to get a flu shot.
  • A combination of COVID-19 and other serious illnesses could be extremely dangerous. That's why we need to encourage every single patient to protect themselves and their family members this season!
OUR GOAL

Our goal is to give 1,650 flu shots company-wide by the end of November.

  • We will review our progress company-wide every Thursday morning on the conference call.
  • Weekly progress will be posted in the news section on the Employee Page.

HOW WE'RE DOING IT: Marketing and Operational Updates
Marketing Campaign

The promotional campaign includes the following:

  • Bag Promotion: Each store will receive a supply of cards promoting flu, shingles, and pneumonia vaccines. Starting October 1st, a card should be stapled to the outside of every bag that leaves our pharmacies in October and November.
  • Yard Signs/Drive-thru Signage: Yard signs will be displayed on the front lawn and in every drive-thru at every pharmacy in October and November.
  • Social Media: We will heavily promote vaccinations on our social media pages. Please share our posts and help spread the word!
  • Flu Shot Days: We will host flu shot days at our stores. More information on this and dates coming soon.
  • Flu Shot Clinics: Patrick will be coordinating several flu shot clinics with local businesses. Our staff will be on-site at these businesses giving flu shots to their employees.
  • Flu Shot Stickers: Each store will receive a supply of stickers to give every patient that gets a flu shot.
Inventory

We have been working diligently on ensuring inventory is shared amongst the pharmacies, especially for the High Dose 65+ flu vaccines.

  • Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Carin will call the pharmacies to get a count on flu vaccines.
  • From this report we will make inventory adjustments if necessary.
  • This year we can expect high demands for the High Dose 65+ vaccine and we want to make sure we provide all the pharmacies with enough supply to meet this demand.
Medicare PartB Billing
Most if not all of the High Dose influenza vaccines will be billed and covered to Medicare.
  • Our Medicare PartB billing is now being processed through our Solution Center.
  • Please continue to send Carin copies of the patient's Red, White and Blue card, completed consent form, and inventory transfer form for MedB billing.
Workflow and Training
With the addition of Pioneer Rx and new employees, we have put together some education and a workflow guide for administering vaccinations in the pharmacy.

Please review the documents linked below for detailed steps (for each position), as well as some education for the immunizations we have standing orders for.

**We will discuss the workflow and education in your Level 10 meetings beginning next week so please make sure you have reviewed these documents prior to your next meeting.

GRITS Integration
At this time we are still in the GRITS integration process with Pioneer.
  • Please continue to send all consent forms to Carin for manual GRITS entries.
  • Once we have become fully integrated we will communicate the new workflow steps.
